When I wear my Navy dress blues, am I supposed to wear the ribbons I earned while in the Army or the Navy equivalent of those ribbons?

My question is if you wear army ribbons on your navy dress blues or are you supposed to wear the equivalent of those ribbons from the Navy. Example is to wear my army achievement medal or are you supposed to wear the navy/marine achievement medal.

You do not have the Navy/Marine Achievement Medal, you have the Army Achievement Medal, you wear the Army Medal if it is allowed. You do not wear the Navy Medal as a replacement.

Look at the equivalent of your AR 670-1 for the Navy. United States Navy Uniform Regulations: NAVPERS 15665I Chapter 5

It states that any other service medals/ribbons will come after the equivalent Navy medal/ribbon.

In the Army, you would wear your Navy ribbons in addition to any Army ribbons you earned. There is no substitution. You can go to a "rack builder" web site and create your ribbon set to see how it is supposed to look like.

Before you buy or order anything, check with your leadership to ascertain whether you're GTG or not. It'll be them inspecting you, so you need to make sure they're all on the same page when all is said and done. Have the regulations and your award citations on-hand if they have questions.

First off. Don't wear ribbons/medals you weren't awarded. That will never go over well. Each Branch covers what awards can be allowed in their uniform guidance. Most services are pretty relaxed and allow most badges/awards but there are exceptions. But achievement medals are allowed. Just make sure everything is entered into your record. Don't be the cat who gets lifed out for rocking medals not in the system. Just a bad way to spend the day explaining why you have on sister branch awards without the documentation to back it up

Never wear medals/ribbons you were not personally awarded. If you have an AAM but not the NAM, then you wear the AAM. Always check the Navy regs on awards from different branches.

Only wear awards to which you are authorized PO2 Private RallyPoint Member. If you have the certificate awarding the device/ribbon then you can wear it. Or if it's also listed on your DD214 you can wear it as well.

I had some ex-navy folks in sone of my old units that used to wear their Navy ribbons on their Class-As and I could never tell you what they were for, unless I looked it up!

You wear only the ribbons on your personnel record. If you have Army ribbons, the Navy should have picked them up when you changed services, so wear them proudly. Be sure to check the precedence of all awards and ribbons so you get them in the right order. Charts for this available on line. Be careful about unit awards, such as a Presidential Unit Citation. Normally there's a rule about unit awards that requires you to have been assigned when the unit received the award in order to wear it after your assignment to a particular unit ends.

The answers that you are seeking should be in the United States Navy Uniform Regulations Manual. Your unit administrative personnel (or even your First Class or Chief) should be able to find this manual and review the information with you. My advice to you in the meantime is to only wear any medals or ribbons or awards that were awarded or presented or given or authorized to you by the Navy.
