When security risk and threat levels are elevated, how do you respond at home?

When security risks are elevated, and levels of security measures go up, how do YOU respond AT HOME? Or do you already take precautions on a regular basis? Are you armed? How secure do you like to keep your home and family?

I am always cautious in this day and age, and I always stay armed (both at home and away). The threats always exist, be they from terrorists, or criminals.

The bottom line is, my family is number one in my book, and I will do anything to ensure their safety and security.

That said, if we know of an increase to a specific threat, I adjust measures accordingly. I'm not saying that my preparations will eliminate the threat, but they will certainly mitigate a threat, and the bottom line is, I will not go down without a fight!

There is a large drainage tunnel that runs under the road by me, when it hits red, I hide in it until it drops back down. :)

Seriously, I have a pool for water storage. I have plenty of rabbits, squirrels, Quail and dove for food. Dogs for early alert and a safe full of weapons from .22 to .44mag to 30-06 rifle.

I live in a fairly sparce part of town so anybody on my road or property will stand out.

Door strikers are reinforced and lock sets are ANSI grade 1 (although it should be noted that ONLY Assa Abloy are pick proof). Motion sensor lighting inside and out.

If one gets past that, you have a Marine with a K-Bar defending his daughter!! Absolutely nothing in the world will instill more of a fight than a man defending his family

I have two 4 legged alarm systems; dachshund's they have a ear splitting bark than can wake the dead. After that, buckshot.

I dig fighting positions, draw a sector sketch, practice fire commands like one terrorist at 11 o'clock 75 meters fire on my command, FIRE! I put my daughters on roving patrol.
