SPC Nicholas List 8723612

My schools NCO submitted me for 68P AIT on 05MAR24. The class starts 25JUN24.
It's been over a month, and I haven't heard anything back. Is there a certain time period in which class seats open up for reservist or? I've heard conflicting information, and I am just wanting to get my affairs in order on the civilian side in a timely manner. Thank you. DTS and GOVTC set up, Medpros in the green, and passing ACFT within the past month. When will I hear back from the schoolhouse for decision on my class seat (Reservist Reclass)? 2024-04-10T14:19:25-04:00 SPC Nicholas List 8723612

My schools NCO submitted me for 68P AIT on 05MAR24. At which point any empty seats are filled first come first served. As a training and ops NCO I always checked on my soldiers in a wait status at 30 days out up until 10 days out for any cancellations I could slip them into if not already in a reserved seat/status. Unfortunately it's hit and miss if your command doesn't already own the seat. Again, I've been retired for 13 yrs almost, things may have changed. Good luck. Every year we are asked how many seats we want for various courses for the upcoming fiscal year. The training personnel at Reserve Command then work on getting seats set aside for Air Force Reserve members from the course owners. Then the seats are filled on a first come first serve basis, generally. If all the seats allocated for a particular component are already filled, then they can try to "buy" a vacant seat from another component. Generally around 30 days out vacant seats will be offered up to any component to fill. That is when the course will start going down its wait list and trying to fill the empty seats. They want to fill all the seats possible and will try up to the start of class to fill seats.

Continue to check with your training NCO and stay ready to go. Also, communicate what is the last date you can leave for training. I have had members turn down training because they could not make all the arrangements needed when given a short notice school with no penalty. The school will just move to the next name on the wait list. That is initial entry training. For reclass, you would be trying to get one of those unused quotas at 45 days out from report when it opens to all applications.
Your ATRRS profile should have your correct email address, and you should have received an email when the application was submitted. You would receive another email when that application is denied, or approved for a reservation or a wait.
If you never received that first email, you should talk to your schools NCO about correcting your email address in ATRRS.
You should also ask that schools NCO what level that application is pending today, (there are levels of review between input and approval), and if they have a plan to get a non-quota seat.
