Where is the last duty station you want to retire at?

Everyone may have a particular duty station they would like to finally hang up their hat at for the last time. Mine would be Joint Base Lewis-McChord. What is yours?

As close to home as possible so I can build my log house in the mountains. Probably here in Fort Lee would be the closest but it won't happen so I will be happy wherever I go from here as that could be my last duty station.

I started my Military career at Fort Bragg and would like to end it there as well. I currently own a house there and would like to find a job somewhere in the state (probably in the Triangle somewhere). I am originally from Connecticut but really have no reason or want to ever move back there, I enjoy North Carolina as it offers a little bit of everything with the Mountains, Beach, and City Life.

I think I would have preferred Fort Belvoir but as I dropped my 4187 at the beginning of this month Fort Bragg will do. Then again I have no plan to stay around a military installation so it doesn't really matter in the long run as long as they have a good transition office.

More than likely I'll end up ETSing or retiring from Fort Bragg. There aren't too many 37s on the AD side. Of that, less than 5% are detached from the MISOC and outside of Bragg.

I wouldn't mind Yongsan, S. Korea though. Get my DLPT back up to a 2/2 and rack up some FLPP and COLA before I get out.

CPT Jacob Swartout I retired from Fort Lewis and when I went back for the TDRL final eval it was like going home.
