Anyone still buy Savings Bonds? Where's the best place to invest your money these days that has the lowest risk and highest reward?

The bulk of mine is in TSP and, because I am close to retirement from the federal government, most of it is in the G Fund. Doesn't earn a lot, but it is relatively safe from risk. Frankly, I am more interested in keeping what I have than anything else right now (yeah, I learned a bitter lesson a couple years ago).

Index funds typically perform very well over the long term, with very low expense ratios. Good ones won't take too much of a hit in bear markets, and Vanguard is usually a safe bet. I also like ETFs and own stock in companies that I think have and will stand the test of time (i.e. Ford, Coca Cola, and Southwest as a bit of a wildcard).

Lowest risk and highest reward? Great deal if you can get it. But, in reality the reward is usually tied to the risk. More risk - more reward. Less risk - less reward. I don't see that changing.

There's no such thing as a low risk investment with a decent return. Otherwise, I think a managed fund that is indexed to your age and appetite for risk is a good bet. A good fund will keep your money in places where a tanking market won't put your investments in a unrecoverable state before you reach retirement age while helping you make the most of gains.

My grandparents always bought us EE bonds but they never were worth more then the face value pf the bond. I also used to collect baseball cards which also are not as worth.
I say mutual funds.

All investments have risk. I still have money in stock market . I do buy savings bonds. Habit from my military days

I use TSP and my own Roth IRA. Your best bet is to stick with the index funds and the inverse index funds. There are plenty of ETF's to cover any sort of investment you're looking to make. The $VTI is a great diverse ETF in one ticker.

I personally own shares of $O to obtain a monthly dividend that will compound greatly over time.
