PO3 Private RallyPoint Member 397616

I've eaten at various locations around the world, always trying local cuisine in addition to the "local take" on popular American restaurants, in every port I stopped in while on Submarines.

I would have to say, though, that the most interesting place I every ate was on my first boat. We were doing a "Magellan" cruise (around the world) prior to decommission going from Connecticut to Hawaii the LONG way around. One day we surfaced in the middle of the Indian Ocean for a swim call and a "Steel Beach" picnic, where the cooks brought a small grill topside, fired it up, and did burgers and dogs. That was the most interesting place I've ever eaten. Where's the most interesting place you've eaten while in the military? 2015-01-02T14:18:53-05:00 PO3 Private RallyPoint Member 397616

I've eaten at various locations around the world, always trying local cuisine in addition to the "local take" on popular American restaurants, in every port I stopped in while on Submarines.

I would have to say, though, that the most interesting place I every ate was on my first boat. Ate on china with white tablecloths. Similar to a British Officers Mess, but with Belgium/French cuisine every meal and the organization had its own wine label. Had that naan bread with fried eggs and whatever meat they used. I don't think Ill ever know if it was as good as it actually tasted or if it just wasn't an MRE and that's what tasted so good haha. The tea was great too. Also was camped at a IP station during the elections as a QRF for polling locations and it was fun interacting with them in close quarters like that and trying all their food.
