I mostly side with Republicans, however I do not vote for a Republican candidate because of their affiliation with a party. Rather, I vote for who I believe would be best for this great nation. This partisan system of politics is ridiculous.

So I just went through the survey, and those are a bunch of loaded questions. Half my answers would need to be qualified.

- Should the federal government allow the death penalty? Yes, but ONLY if we are sure that prosecutors are not ignoring evidence.

- Should the government raise the federal minimum wage? Only if it takes into account the fact that "living wage" varies from city to city. Minimum wage in New York should be different than minimum wage in no-where Alabama.

- Should the federal government subsidize U.S. farmers? For what? Corn, no. Beef, no.

- Do you support increased gun control? I believe in open carry in all states, not so much when it comes to 40+ rnd magazines for an M4.

- Should federal government limit funds to public schools that do not meet performance standards? I don't believe standardized testing works.

- Do you support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)? I thinks it's a poorly written law, but what are the alternatives?

- Would you favor removing the state income tax and replacing it with a higher sales tax? I prefer a VAT tax.

On a lot of these I'd actually come down republican if only given 2 options. But I don't believe in the idea that things are black/white. There are details that need to be addressed.

Although the "How Liberal Are You?" quiz showed me to be 75% Republican, 30% Democrat, I contend that the real answer is 100% Independent! I pick and choose what I support and what I believe in not some party platform. I was driven out of the Republican Party and cannot Stomach what the Democrat Party has become. The Independent Party in NC is not even a real thing, just a listing of I ain't either of the above. I wish I had a real choice, but I do pick and choose candidates very carefully.

Our two party system (yes, there are others, but so far most significant elections come down to one of the two major parties) forces us to sort our values and beliefs into things we can't live with or can't live without, and then ignore other strongly held values in selecting leadership that stands for a few key issues. I'd like a more balanced system, then I'd have to investigate the platforms of the other parties and seek to elect a government that is more aligned with my values.

I call myself a Reagan Conservative. I think the majority of the policies put into place and the ideological views of President Reagan were really good for the country. I have studied and read about President Reagan and would consider myself a Reagan Conservative. For those that say the Republican Party has gone far-right need to look closer at the voting records of the Party in D.C. Those elected into office may appear "far-right" but many are still moderate right. What we see in the Republican Party now on the television are conservative groups like the Tea Party that are Republican-affiliated but don't speak for the entire GOP.

The Reality is not which party as they the two main parties are both going off the deep end. It is more of an ideology. Are you liberal and willing to take crazed risks with freedom and not care about the outcome or are you conservative and more concerned with caution and care in making changes. Liberal, do you think the Constitution is out of date and that it is OK to change morals and ethics when these no longer suit you; or Conservative, you believe that morals and ethics are standards that principally do not change and people must use them as the ruler to measure their behavior. Liberal, you believe that nobody has the right to tell you anything (anarchy) and Conservative (rule of law and enforcement). There is thick black and white in the ideologies but a growing grey as those who are drunk on power begin to convolute the titles to confuse the masses. Watch out for RINO's (Republican In Name Only).

I think the administration of FDR and Truman, rings true for this country. It was the last time we truly had leadership in the White House. Eisenhower became a figurehead, and JFK got us involved in Vietnam. and went down hill from there, FDR got the country back on its feet by creating jobs, and Truman didn't screw around, did what he had to do to defeat Japan, and then went after N Korea.

Mostly Democratic with some Libertarian and Green Party views that I favor. It really depends on issue for me. At the risk of offending folks I will say that I have a fundamental issue with having homelessness particularly homeless vets in our country while we give aid to other countries. I'd like to see us step back and work on our own issues first. To me we should be taking care of our own first.

There really should be an option for independent/no political affiliation. IMHO, at this point in the Republic, both the Republicans and the Democrats are destroying this nation by actively and passively ignoring the Constitution.

The leaders of both parties are guilty of subverting the US Constitution and those within both parties are doing nothing to stop this, which is in violation of the Oath of Office they have all taken.

Independent SHOULD have been one of the choices...

When I take the quizzes I always end up aligning most closely with the Republicans, although I'm totally disgusted with the performance of the RINOs. I consider myself more of an independent and never vote straight ticket. I always vote the person and not the party.

There is one choice that won't get my vote and that's the Democratic Party. It is no longer the same Party as the one that JFK was a part of. The Democratic Party has been hijacked by Progressive Globalists, whose goal it is to take away America's sovereignty and transform America into another bankrupt Euro-style nanny welfare state, under THEIR "superior" leadership and control -- of course! And judging by the current leadership, you can just take that word leadership right out of the equation, because we have yet to see any come from an Administration that is quicker to make excuses and find scapegoats to deflect from its myriad of shortcomings!!!

The Progressives are pushing UN Agenda 21, the goal of which is to reduce the world population to a sustainable 500,000,000 people. Am curious how they are going to decide who gets to live... The lack of honesty coming from the Progressive aka Democratic party is truly appalling. They have embraced a culture of corruption. Frankly, I'm done with the Democrats. There isn't a whole lot that they stand for that I agree with that makes up for what else they stand for that I don't agree with. To put it bluntly, I will NEVER vote for a Democrat -- ever! It wouldn't hurt me in the least to see the party shrivel up and go away because the party is so anti-American and hell bent on seeing to this country's socialist transformation!

The Republicans are split between the Establishment GOP Republicans In Name Only (RINOs) and the true Conservatives that the Tea Party endorses. Frankly, the Establishment GOP types are simply Democrats by another name. They are virtually indistinguishable from them and so they don't get my vote either.

What WILL get my vote is a Republican, Libertarian, Green, Constitution Party or Independent candidate that shares the vision of our Founding Fathers and doesn't see politics first and foremost as a place to serve their special interests as a lucrative career choice.

Apparently I support 89% of democratic viewpoints and 78% of green party views.. I would agree with these results. The quiz was incredibly helpful, I haven't actually taken the time to truly reflect on my political stances. Im not a Republican but I am a conservative. There are to many morons in the parties anymore. There are some good ones in the smaller parties or independants but it'll be a while before they can get the votes they need.

All I can say is everything has gone down the toilet since the Dems took Congress then the WH. A short stroll through a nearly abandon mall mid afternoon on Saturday shows just how good our economy is.

I guess my views are relevant in this post. Torn between Libertarian/Constitutionalist. I AM a firm believer that both of the dominate parties are corrupted by special interests, corporations and money. Believe both parties need to be abolished as they are all the same at the root, they just don't like admitting it. Let them all run on their merits, not how big an advertising budget they have. Move the responsibility of sending Senators back to the State Legislatures also. Not sure about term limits but no retirement benefits. It's not a job, it's a service. That's my two-cents.

However, I am registered as an Independent. While I don't get to vote in the primaries, I simply don't care about the hype. Once the parties decide who their "best" candidate is, I will vote how I think the economy/society will best benefit from the election. Normally, I lean on the Republican party, but there are men and women in different parties that seem to be better suited for some offices.

Generally, I tend to vote Republican. However, I would temper that with the fact, that I often will not vote for the incumbent regardless of party if I feel that the course taken of that office is off center. I believe that most of our politicians should just be voted out and we should start over; especially with our "career politicians".

I have tended to side with the Democratic Party as of late, and I feel that our system has its flaws, but those that do not elect to join a party, and vote in the primaries are allowing the sides to become more polarized. I voted for Senator McCain in 2008, and President Obama in 2012; I am open for considering a good candidates from either party, but if they continue to polarize I fear will have to become more straight ticket in hopes of having effective government through single party majority in all branches.

I'm not sure I could label myself in any of these categories. In the past I've voted Republican and even worked on political campaigns at one time, but I have a hard time with both Democrat and Republican parties. I usually tell people that I'm a Patriot, plain and simple. I follow the Constitution, read the Federalist Papers, and try to follow the guidance of our founding fathers for the direction of this country. I agree with the concept our founding fathers penned. So when it comes to voting, I research the individual and look for the logic factor in their actions, principles and positions.

According to the quiz, I stand with the Democrats.

However, as a caveat, I will say that I do not stand for party politics. Parties are self serving and can lead to our country's downfall. I am excited to see new parties rising to challenge the old 2 party system with that "weird kid in the corner" (aka the Independent Party). I'm not knocking independents, I'm simply stating that they do not hold as much strength as they should in politics.

I hope that we can overcome this horrid system, OR, like Germany - embrace a multitude of parties to get a more accurate picture of public intent and direction. There is no black and white - everything is shades of grey...

I think our society has become too sided. An individual identifies themselves as a democrat, they will support any thing that the left says - regardless of how ridiculous it may be. Same with republican - even if something is not logical but proposed, someone that sides with the right will agree.

How about siding with the constitution, upholding what is written law, and presenting/supporting ideas that are truly in the best interest of this nation - regardless of who came up with them?

I am Democrat because I believe we as a people face extremely complex problems, and we need to invest in complex, and long term solutions. The unregulated economy crashed in the 1929; back then people were poor, demanding unions, and there was a real communist movement in the United States (I mean real not that crap you regurgitate that Rush said). I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I believe in voting for the best man for the office. While I believe in some principles of the Democratic party, there is a lot of Republican views that I can appreciate as well. The two party system needs to go, and leave the voting to the best man for the job. Let the politicians prove themselves true by their actions. Unfortunately that is nowhere near where we are nor will be.

I vote Republican about 95% of the time. I think people should be responsible for themselves instead of being dependent upon the government. Republicans also do more for the military than Democrats do. I remember when Reagan was president how disgusted he was that our pay was so far below that in the private sector. He pushed a Democratic controlled Congress to pass legislation giving us two pay raises in a year. He succeeded.

I am registered to a party - but I do not vote to the (D) (R) or (I) - I really wish they would do away with that - I do my research on each candidate and if they are already in office I research their voting record. Make a decision and go with it.

Again I think if they removed the (D,R I) from the candidates name you would see more people make a educated decision rather than a Party decision

Largely libertarian. Honestly, I have not seen much difference between democrats and republicans when it comes to practical application. They both talk a big game, but neither side really does much different when they get into power.

It's hard to say. I'm no longer sure if I am a Libertarian leaning Republican, or a Republican leaning Libertarian...and to be honest I had never heard of the Constitution Party until now. Either way though, and this is just my 2 cents the system we have is broken and it is past time for a change. The political machine that is the 2 party system has become too corrupt, powerful, and self serving. We need not primaries, but runoffs. Start to chip away at the powerbase of the machine. Even John Adams knew the dangers of the system we have in place today and tried to warn us over 200 years ago when he said
"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution."

Washington in his farewell speech also spoke of the dangers of the two party system...
"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty

And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume."

I generally go Democratic, however, I have voted Republican in the past because I felt the person running was the best candidate.

Well, I am a registered Republican but have never voted down party lines, because I don't think it was ever designed for that. I agree with most of the ideals of the Republican party but I normally try to vote for the person regardless of party who I believe can do the best job.

I cannot simply self-identify as a Republican without comment. I am not a Republican because I believe that that party represents my ideology, but rather because it's the party that I have the most chance of bending to my ideology. The Democratic Party is too far gone to be rescued. Although I have registered as a Democrat for more years than not, the leadership of the DNC has been usurped by the Left and traditional liberals (those who love liberty) like myself have no chance of taking it back. Those who remain with the party simply haven't awakened to this fact or are tilting at windmills. The leadership of the GOP also has been usurped by the Left but there is still a strong contingent of the Right counterbalancing them. I still see an opportunity to set these two sides against each other and then slip in to influence the outcome. The other three parties listed simply will never matter, not to any significant degree.

Just took the test again as it is for the current election year. Was surprising to see all the people I was matched up with. Carson,Trump, and Rubio got an 84% match, followed by Fiorina at 82%. Everybody else was 75% or under. Hillary was the highest Dem I matched with at 57%.

I grew up in a home that had a Democrat and a Republican so I grew up with both sides, however with that said. The History of the Republican party is what has kept me a Republican. NOT Whatsoever the party has become. I'm a middle of the road Republican to say that I do my homework on the candidates for big elections and I willfully vote in the general election who I think will be the best leader in their respective category. I've voted in the past for Democrats and Independents even a Constitutionalist or two.

I really and firmly believe that the party system has gotten away from their history and the reason they were founded. Our Government system has become like a Civil war in itself with the two major parties fighting like Kindergarten kids on the playground. It has become more about the parties and less about what is important to the American Public. This year the cream has really risen to the top to further prove my point. All the in fighting among the Republicans because one person who was said to not have a chance in Hades to get through the primaries let alone the first few months of the election was overwhelmingly voted for by the American People to become the next President of the United States, now they are scrambling because that person is the presumptive winner of the Republican party and yet because the party refuses to listen to the will of the people are still fighting and looking for an alternative to this person. It's disgusting how misguided our Electoral system has become that a party refuses the will of the American Citizen and has their own agenda. On the other side of the isle we have a Confirmed socialist running for President and that is our fault as parents that our children have embraced this outlook.

So in short, I am a Republican because of what the Republican party used to stand for, because they have always believed in Peace through Strength and as a retired warrior I hold those values very close to my heart because I love this Country. We didn't come up with Segregation, Jim Crow Laws, we didn't start a racist "Klan" or embrace Slavery when it was falling out of favor and the nation's minds were changing the way we did things. We believed and those of us that have learned why the Republican party was founded believe that in our Country Equality means that every has an equal chance to do something with their lives but not everyone is guaranteed an equal outcome.
