AT/ADT/ADSW (any type of active duty) does not count against the 130 points per year limit. On the Navy side, the question is not, "Which courses count towards retirement points now?"; it is, "Which courses will be approved by my CO?" I was getting 130 point years doing NETC courses 4-6 years ago; then about 4 years ago the Navy rules changed (I don't know if the other services changed at that time also) where you have to get your CO to approve the course as something that is relevant for your job/rate. I fully understand why the Navy did it, but it shut down an awesome path to getting a lot of "free" points. I was taking E4 rating manual classes, courses on how Seabees construct buildings and roads, a 5 part series on the history of the Chaplain Corps, etc. Nothing remotely aligned to being a nuclear submarine officer! (It was nice while it lasted)

These are the responses I received back from the Milsuite Community. Hope this helps some of ya'll like it did to me.

MAJ Mark McLeod to Me:
**"You must get the latest Electronic-Based Distributed Learning Compensation (EBDL) list from USARC to see what courses are paid for via Retirement Points, Pay, etc. These are usually just MOS courses or Primary Military Education (to get promoted) courses that you take online. You used to not get paid for this- now you do. (I didn't get paid this before when I was on reserve status).
**For the Army Reserve- you are allowed to claim only 12 Reserve Management Assembly (RMAs) per fiscal year, for EDBL (1 RMAs = 4hrs). So if the PME course is 40 hours in duration (could take longer to complete)- you'll get 10 RMAs (1/2 of your regular drill check - or 1 days pay) for the course. 1 RMA = 1 Point, 1 Regular Drill Day/Battle Assembly is 2 Unit Training Assemblies or 2 Retirement Points. You must have 50 points from all sources/orders/duty to have a good year.
**Check with your S1 or Unit Administrator for more information about points and other pay issues.
**For the 130hrs- that's the max for a Reservist that is allowed (unless you are on extended ADOS, or are AGR) by law. That 130 max points- total includes the 48 UTAs and 14 Days Annual Training (could be more depending on unit/mission).
**Per the HRC site you referenced:
Electronic-Based Distributed Learning - Paid IDT Duty for TPU only
Army Directive 2010-06 (Compensation of Reserve Component Personnel for Army Electronic-Based Distributed Learning) in compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), 37 U.S.C. 206 (d)(2), and the Memorandum, USD (P&R), 29 Jun 08, subject: Policy on Reserve Component Electronic-Based Distributed Learning Compensation (EBDL) authorizes the "Paid" compensation for the successful completion of electronic-based distributed learning coursework for members of the Selected Reserve (TPU). Please contact USARC EBDL at [login to see] for further information."

**"The only courses that count towards correspondence course points now are PME courses and you must be in a paid status in order to get those points after 15 April 2015.
**The 130 retirement point limit is only for inactive duty training which are your drills (battle assemblies), membership points, funeral duties, RST's, RMA's, and all the other types of inactive duty performed. If you reach the 130 point limit and perform funeral duties, you do not lose the points for going over. For example you've performed all of your battle assemblies, completed a few RMA's to help prep for a battle assembly or an AT, and received PME correspondence course points, plus your 15 membership points, bringing your total to 130 points. Then you perform two funeral honor duties for a point each, this would give you a total of 132 retirement points for IDT performed that year.
**Active duty points are limited to 365 points except on leap year and then it is 366. Active duty includes AT, ADT, ADTS, ADOS, CO-ADOS, basically anything that you are put on active orders for. If you perform 14 days of AT, 20 days of ADTS, and 90 days of ADOS, that would give you 124 days of active duty points.
**Now let's put it all together. Your IDT and AD points are then added up together for a grand total of 256 retirement points for the year. If that combined grand total were to have gone over 365 (366 for leap years) anything over that would have been lost.
**Does this make sense?"

MAJ Justin Warrick to Me:
**"Current functional and PME distance learning courses that 'may' be authorized for points and pay are listed on the ATRRS catalog page at the top. https://www.atrrs.army.mil/atrrscc/ AR 140-185, para 3-4 spells out the requirements for a unit to pay up to 12 ATAs and 4 RST periods for distance learning under rule 5 of table 2-3 in that regulation per FY for a Soldier if funds are available. Additional nonpay points may be awarded for authorized distance learning under rule 20."
