Who has some political involvement advice for me? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/who-has-some-political-involvement-advice-for-me

So I have a pretty straightforward question. I am in the process of transitioning out of the Army and trying to build my civilian career. I am going to school for international politics, and without being too certain of the exact path I plan to take, I do know I am headed in that direction.

That being said, I have about a year and a half left as an Army reservist, and I was offered a pretty awesome position as a State Coordinator of a super PAC, for a 2016 presidential candidate I am very interested in. I know there are rules regarding political involvement in such things, so my question is, can I accept such a job? Obviously, it would have to remain outside the military, out of uniform and not be brought to drill weekends, but so long as I keep my political life separate is this appropriate?

Respectfully,

SPC Jensen, Isaac A Fri, 24 Jul 2015 10:02:16 -0400 Who has some political involvement advice for me? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/who-has-some-political-involvement-advice-for-me

So I have a pretty straightforward question. There are multiple politicians that are in the reserves. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 24 Jul 2015 10:05:33 -0400 2015-07-24T10:05:33-04:00 Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 24 at 2015 11:50 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/who-has-some-political-involvement-advice-for-me?n=840679&urlhash=840679

Reservists are not restricted like active duty troops. Many reservists are members of Congress! I encourage you to stay in the reserves why you pursue your civilian career. Of course talk to JAG about specif questions but in general younare free do do most political ativities when not in uniform or on orders exempt those the dishonot the military. You are legally a civilian, with all all rights of such, when you are not on ADT or performing drills. I accepted the offer and already have a radio interview (with international coverage) scheduled for Monday and had a phone interview with one of the two men responsible for starting the PAC (a retired Air Force Officer). I am building contacts like you wouldn't believe which is what I had hoped for, I'm super excited!!
