Yet, why then are the hight and weight / Physical training requirements different.<br />If we going to truly treat women as equals we have to, in the name of equality make all standards the same across the board. As it stands right now there is large double standard. Both female and male soldiers of the same rank recieve the same pay yet the requirements are not the same. If we are going to cry equality lets go all the way! WHERE IS THE EQUALITY? I've always been on the side of women being capable. Clearly I have a bias, lol. I say give women the opportunity. Whether it's ranger, infantry, field artillery, or anything else that the military restricts females from doing, keep the standards the same and give women the chance to either fail or succeed. If someone can do the job to standard, then why are we not allowing them to do it?! Make it up to the women to decide what they are or are not capable of doing and what they are willing to do. Men can choose any job in the military, make it the same for both men and women. I do know about being a pilot, a career field once closed to women. About 20 years ago the USAF opened pilot training to women. Now women pilots serve in combat and noncombat jobs. There appears to have been no negative impact on USAF combat capabilities. I have met some. I have also met the other types who are not proofed and are not able to hold their own and are a hindrance there are men like this as well, but the standards need to be the same if we are talking about a woman qualified to be able to walk side by side with her counterpart she needs to be able to offer her male counterpart the same attributes or capabilities as he is affording her otherwise it is a disadvantage. If they want the job they need to be on the same playing field (standards) it like comparing a Major League Baseball player to an amateur they are not on the same playing field.
