Who understands why China is trying to infringe upon Indian territory in a two pronged approach; significance of Tawang & Daulat Beg Oldie?

Tawang was a District in the NEFA under the British Crown. It is located at 10k feet ASL on a finger in Arunachal Pradesh of India. DBO is the last inhabited city South of the Karakoram Pass in the Union Territory of Ladakh in India.

You may want to check various think-tanks around the world who are studying current China/India relations, and may have published opinions on it. Not knowing the specifics and the history of that region I couldn't offer much of an opinion, but in general, I would say China has been looking to assert itself in the region; much to the consternation of not just us but the major players in the region. So perhaps that is part of it.

I doubt China is trying to provoke anything close to a full-scale war: the upsides don't outweigh the downsides. They may be the most powerful military in the region, but India does have a very formidable, modern military, and--at the extreme--a war with India would result in a Pyrrhic victory for China at best.

Border conflicts up there go back decades - pretty much since China seized Tibet.
I don't think China ha the moxie to tangle with India directly.
