Why are Annoymous RallyPoint members allowed?

Why are we continuing to allow folks to list their name as "anonymous" on RallyPoint, and ask questions when the stated RallyPoint rules say that this is not allowed? If someone will not reveal their real name, they should not be on this site.

Sgt Private RallyPoint Member - I've wondered how folks who have been here awhile still do that. I understand new folks not having a profile but after a while they could at least list their name.

We allow Anonymous users as a security/OPSEC measure. If they want to be verified, I must see their name on their profile and it must match their proof of service document however if the member uses ID.me; then we can't control that. That's the "admin answer" now for the "Ben Keen non-admin answer"; I will say that I see your point. I rather see and know who I'm talking with but at the same time, I understand why some users need/want to keep their name offline. Now, if an "annoymous" account is not verified and is starting terrible, I am faster to remove the account than I would be if the account is verified but I still double-check with the user admins before taking that action.

It is an interesting point, certainly...I've obv seen instances of it, I'd always just figured maybe there were personal reasons or something as to why, perhaps, honest, that's the only reason that'd ever occurred to me...though I of course entirely understand why you mention it, certainly...I just obv figured stuff like that was well above my pay grade, honest, aside from being the newbie on the block, in addition, ya know?

Sgt Private RallyPoint Member Aw! You are just as ‘old school’ as I am. I strive to not click on the Anonymous posts. It is getting to be me too much trouble to block them - they just keep popping up. Would Zuckerberg have an algorithm to ‘kill’ their posts?

Uncertainty, paranoia, severe trust issues and so on + the compelled desperate desire to find answers and hoping maybe this place might provide some = No name, no profile, no pictures and so on.

But hey, at least I worked my way up to not being anonymous in my name.

I understand not wanted repercussions biting your ass if you are a serving member. Learn to live cautiously. Got to support full accountability however. Mean what you say and stand by it. Good part about being a Vet.

Think I'll change my name to CAPT Fossil as it's likely a better fit. Anonymous doesn't change the side of the bed I get out of.
