Why does Senator Mitch Mcconnell have such a STRONG Dislike for President Obama?

Senator Mitch McConnell has been a thorn in the side of President Obama since the beginning of his Presidency! I'm not sure why! Why has he taken Obstructionism during this Presidency so Personal? Can someone please enlighten me!

MM and others of his same stripe, TC, MR and a few others are examples of how much they are motivated by pure political and religious ideology so as to oppose any and everything the opposite philosophy comes up with no matter good or bad. How many times before in the past has someone from the opposite party actually gone so far as to shut down the government? The system as everyone knows limped along for years by people making compromises. No more compromises as ideology has taken over as the primary mindset. To answer yr question, I cannot venture a guess as to why this split has really developed during the past 8 yrs or so of this present POTUS; the conditions are ripe for compromise but conservatives are self-destructing the system more each day.

McConnell said he does NOT dislike Obama but doesn't like the way Obama has dealt with him. They just could not agree on most legislation. And they didn't meet very much to resolve their differences. Obama was very critical of McConnell in some of their meetings which is not the way to negotiate with a majority of minority party leader. Obama admitted he could have done a better job working with the Republican but he mostly just criticized them and their policies. So McConnell & Obama just could not work together from what I have discerned about this issue.

Brother, I wish people could stop using the pejorative "obstructionist". In politics, the people on one side always try to block the other side's agenda, or at least they should try, because they're opposed to each other. That's the whole entire point. So of course politicians will want to obstruct the agenda of those on the other side. If the people of the U.S. put one party in the majority of both houses of Congress, just for example, and that party happens to be the opposite of the party that currently holds the presidency, just for example, a reasonable person might suppose that the Congressional majority were placed there, by the people exactly for the purpose of obstructing the executive branch's agenda. We might as well accuse a defense lawyer of being obstructionist because the prosecution wants the accused to get convicted.

MCConnell is the leader of the US Senate and the US Senate has more Conservatives than Liberals. It's called the voice of the people. He has a political obligation to force a compromise on any / all issues the liberal agenda seeks. That agenda is led by Obama. If the people did not have a voice we would have an Emperor (and we have come very close recently). Obamas unwillingness to work on compromise positions with the Congress inevitably leads to the intractable position that is taken by the people's representatives. By the way it cuts both ways - does the name Harry Read ring any bells? You don't have to look real hard to find his obstruction antics. It is what you and all of us swore an oath to defend... The Constitution. It's the best political system ever devised by man and it work better than any other. The loyal opposition! Let's hope it never goes away or we are doomed.

Because Obama is going the wrong way. Busted budget, flaming liberals on Supeme Court, AG that is racist, lies to the military grossly disrespectful to military. Obama could NOT pass a security background check. He failed to register for Selective Service! Why? Law professor on Constitutional Law, a gross misrepresentation. He actually lectured on 14th Amendment. In military terms he was a bottom feeding squad leader claiming he has the company commander. Just a little bit of real difference. I reject the premise of the question. They may or may not dislike each other. The system is working exactly as the Founding Fathers set it up. We have a divided nation. The House is elected every two years so that it can reflect the immediate mood of the nation. Only 1/3 of the Senate changes, it is supposed to be more reflective and resistant to passion of the moment. The President disagrees. Net result, until we the people make up our collective mind and replace enough legislators, and the President gets what he wants, or The legislature can override his veto. Gridlock means that we the people have not yet made up our minds.

However, until the people of this Country remove him from office, we are supposed to try to work with the President, for the Common good of the people.. I think the tone was set when in the early days of the Obama Administration, GOP leaders were beckoned to the White House to discuss Health Care among other issues and the newly elected POTUS got in their faces and said to the man he had defeated, "Elections have consequences."

Having his thumb stuck in their eyes, figuratively speaking, IMHO completely erased any of the goodwill or willingness to co-operate - not that there was all that much to begin with.

Since then, Obama has made few, if any friends on EITHER side of the aisle. Even Democrats have (behind closed doors) complained about how POTUS virtually ignores them - they, however, are bound by a particularly strong party loyalty (often lacking in the GOP) to stand behind him - Republicans are not.

But I don't think Obama is really being treated any more shabbily than Bush by the "loyal" opposition. There are those who still believe Bush wasn't legally the President even though numerous recounts came out in Bush's favor and if Gore had won Tennessee, his home State, he wouldn't have needed Florida (no President has ever won without his home state - and really shouldn't, don't you think?). It is sadly the way politics is played - and it was much more nasty back in the beginning: Allegations of Jefferson's affair with Sally Hemings still haunt Jefferson's legacy and part of the reason Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton was over rumors Burr was having an incestuous relationship with his daughter. So...

Besides, if Republicans and Democrats ever totally got along there'd be no need for a two-party system. The problem is now, both sides are so diametrically opposed in the solutions to our country's problems (or even the problems) it is difficult to compromise on most things. I really don't think the nation has been so split ideologically on so many issues since the 1850s, I am hoping we have learned our lessons and can find peaceful solutions as the alternative is unthinkable.

He is old and withered. He also probably never played sports, but physiologically, he does have testicles which produce testosterone, and sometimes it takes decades to amp that competitive spirit up. Look at your average congressman. They are wieners, soft-bodied slugs that use a pen to bully. That is why they are so drawn to the power of the position. "I am somebody!" I bet if you were to psychologically evaluate each one, there would be many of the same stories and words used during evaluation.

Pardon my ignorance but I thought politicians run for office with the purpose of helping the people who elect them, not to push their personal agendas; it appears lately that our government representatives would rather hurt our great country to push their personal agendas than to keep it together and strong. Regardless of your personal likes or dislikes do your job and run the country the way it was meant to be run.

As far as I have seen Mitch McConnell has as cordial a relationship with President Obama as any other leader of the Senate who is not in the same party as the President SPC Andrew Griffin. I have lived near Washington D.C since 1989 and follow events pretty closely.
After 2001 the relationship between opposition party congressional leaders and the President has been confrontational. Remember Nancy Pelosi for instance.

Senator McConnell in my opinion demonstrates the ways and intentions of most white Americans. He is an irresponsible racist, who would have been called an anarchist in the 1960's; which is evidence of white America's acceptance of white anarchy as long as it is against the black president.

I have seen the same racism while in the United States Air Force, when a white full bird came at me with an axe, and raised it at me and called me blackie. Attorney Conrad J. Lynn was the only help I was able to get. Not one senator or congressman ever helped me, not one judge in the American Court system, or any other system in America. America is a compounding experience of racism perpetuated by the acts of politicians. Myself and four brothers al served in the U.S. Air Force, my father 20 years in the U.S. Navy, uncle 20 years in the Army; we all have experienced racism while serving. I learned about the used of classified electronics surveillance for tampering with the brain as a result of racist harassment in the use of it. I would say much more, but this system has shut down twice, and I've lost previous information sent.
