CH (MAJ) Thomas Conner 987612

Is it just me or do others find the worship of celebrities confusing? It seems that ant time of day or night a television show about the Kardashians, Osborne family, or some other "famous" family is on. People obviously watch such shows, otherwise they would not be on! But my question is why? If I want to see a bunch of spoiled people whining, all I have to do is visit some of my relatives, the same with drug addicts! Why waste time watching others live their lives while I can be living mine? Why so much celebrity worship? 2015-09-23T13:19:01-04:00 CH (MAJ) Thomas Conner 987612

Is it just me or do others find the worship of celebrities confusing? You might get a laugh from it, Sir.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, however. I don't quite understand the fascination in these celebs, unless they're actually attractive and even then, reality shows are unnecessary. I haven't sat down and just watched TV in a couple years, unless you count football, so I'm a little out of the loop with all the nonsense. Doesn't seem like I'm missing out on much though. All I could think of it is, maybe the fascination comes from the desire to live the lives that these celebs live. Lord have mercy on those individuals. Why do we put celebrities so high in the news and papers. Who cares they are just people that have way to much money and time on their hands. You will see celebrity news go overboard and we have more important issues that need more attention. Some Gladiators were worshiped as heroes as were Generals such as Pompeii in the days of Julius Caesar and Octavian. We also remember Nero and Caligula who demanded to be worshiped as gods.
The only one I worship is my God who is my Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ along with the Holy Spirit and God the father - three-in-one God and one-in-three beyond anything we could possible understand. Kardashian family, what !@#$ is wrong with those people? Your famous because your home porn film got out, you show your butt to the world? My head explodes at the thought of Americans thinking this is a form of entertainment.

When I was in Iraq, I remember this vividly, our mess tent had three TV's going. CNN, FOX, and BBC. Martha Stewart had just gotten out of jail, and people were camped out like this was news. Mean while BBC was showing footage from flood victims. Our country has gone to hell in a hand basket when some convict is bigger news than thousands of people losing there homes, and being washed down a river. He presented himself as God's gift to the Officer corps because he was prior enlisted and had a deployment. What he didn't say is that he deployed as a tower Guard to Saudi Arabia and didn't make it past E4 in 8 years of service.

He was ultimately lazy and an extremely hands-off leader. Fortunately he had strong subordinates will to pick up the slack. While his leadership ability was lacking overall, he was very good at organizational politics and debate. This often allowed him to ingratiate himself with leaders at all levels and caused his shortcomings to typically be overlooked.

For those he didn't like he was a spiteful and underhanded individual. He allowed his subordinate leaders to berate and belittle Soldiers they didn't like and often participated himself. He would talk down to peers he didnt find worthwhile. Being unwilling to overlook his shortcomings I fell into the second camp. This made it very difficult to work together, as I was typically treated with a level of disdain. I couldn't wait to leave that unit.
