Hopefully your monthly bills don’t exceed your monthly income. If that’s the case set the bills on automatic payment. If you’re paying rent to a landlord who doesn’t accept electronic payment talk with your financial institution. They may be able to automatically pay the landlord out of your account. You’re not the first Soldier to have this problem. Ask your chain of command what they recommend. Also on post credit unions are very good at helping members. Consider moving your regular checking account there if you haven’t already.

Of course if you’re married simply allow your spouse to handle the money while you’re gone. My wife did a great job with the family finances for 22 years.Response by Lt Col Jim Coe made Nov 24 at 2020 10:42 AM2020-11-24T10:42:48-05:002020-11-24T10:42:48-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member6526957

Auto pay or work out payments if you can't do autopay. Even today in the civilian world I use this for everything. Beats the heck out of worrying about having to mail in payments. They are always on time so there are no penalties or late fees to worry about because you don't have to remember to make them.Response by Cpl Vic Burk made Nov 26 at 2020 8:44 PM2020-11-26T20:44:31-05:002020-11-26T20:44:31-05:002020-11-24T07:46:34-05:00
