With only one male white rhino left in the world, do you think our efforts are enough to protect the species from extinction?

Would you support the efforts to protect the last male white rhino? Would you consider letting scientist to attempt to clone the white rhino or possible forced artificial insemination?

At first glance, Sudan looks like any other northern white rhino: stout, agile with square lips.

I think, at this point, with there being only one male left, they need to get its DNA in order to propagate the species. Armed guards may be able to ward off hunters, but they cannot stop time.

I am torn on this one...between not caring and wondering if there is a reason to care? If the animal is not interested in procreating on its own, is it even worth talking about?

Every species on the planet, including our own, is in various stages of "extinction" as we speak.

All that came before us to all that will come after us.

The White Rhino is already extinct. Yes, that's a fatalistic view, but it's true. When there is just 1 male left, the species is effectively gone.

The human race is just one good sized meteor from the same fate.

This doesn't mean we shouldn't TRY to do something. We brought the Bald Eagle back. It's no longer Endangered (still Protected), but this is a case of vigilance.

We must be ever wary. There will always be the next species we cannot save. The last one we killed off, that will be gone forever... because it was it's time.

Like the Passenger Pigeon. For those not familiar with them, the roamed the skies in SWARMS... and man annihilated them, because they couldn't breed fast enough to keep up, even after we realized what was happening.

So, if we have the capability to "not #$%# where we live/eat" we should probably do that. You never know when we'll be the next white rhino.

It is probably too late to save the species, but maybe find a way to get this ones sperm and lab breed some more. This one deserves our respect and should be treated very well.
