I have on two occasions while at lunch been approached and asked if I thought that USA was going to win only to start to hear chanting. Is this true for anyone else?World Cup inspired patriotism?2014-07-02T08:27:08-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member169047<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Have you experienced an increased level of patriotism coming from your civilian neighbors or friends during the recent World Cup run? My family and I currently live in Belgium. We live in a small town between SHAPE and Chievres AB. The national pride that the Belgians have with their team in unbelievable. There are flags everywhere, national colors everywhere, car decorations, trinkets and fan apparel sold in all the stores, etc. After each victory to date, the locals go up and down the road beeping their horns and enjoying themselves.<br /><br />I would hope that this display of national pride was also displayed in America. While some may argue that a sporting event is not something that can tie a nation together or bring out national pride, I would disagree. Whether it is the World Cup, Memorial Day or Veteran's Day tributes at the ball parks, or 9/11 Remembrance ceremonies, I will always take pride when the nation comes together to celebrate the nation.Response by 1SG Steven Stankovich made Jul 2 at 2014 2:35 PM2014-07-02T14:35:58-04:002014-07-02T14:35:58-04:00MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca170223<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In this day and age if Americans can rally and unite around something as simple as a soccer game, who knows where that could lead!
