Do you know that the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) directed a committee to focus upon Gulf War Illness (GWI) of Veterans that participated in the 1990-1991 Persian Gulf War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm? This healthcare challenge addresses the environmental neurotoxicants found to be in theater. In past Veteran Engagement Sessions (VES), the committee expertly engaged in analysis and research of vaccination injury, oil well fires, chemical biological weapons, depleted uranium, noise, CARC Paint, PB, pesticides sand - dust - particulate, toxic embedded fragments, infectious diseases, heat injuries, and occupational hazards. The Chronic Multisymptom Illnesses (CMI) borne from the environmental exposure. The research community needs our help to understand the pathophysiology of CMI to successfully recommend interventions. Therefore, your participation is needed in advancing the understanding of Gulf War Illness.

The INIM is conducting research to better understand the nature of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), Gulf War illness (GWI), and other fatigue-related illnesses with the ultimate goal of improving quality of care for patients.
