Are you single? They have some very nice enlisted barracks. Two EM's or one to a room. If married, stay out of Radcliff. Check out Brandenburg. More of a country living. Tons of things to do but need to do a little traveling. West Point has a Civil War reenactment fight once a year. There's the Knob Creek gun range and twice a year they put on one hell of a machine gun shoot. Louisville Slugger Museum. Ancient Arms Museum across the street. Huge celebration of Thunder over Louisville. Bunch of planes and about a 45 minute fireworks display. There's a good minor league baseball team there. That was fun. There is 6th Street with Irish Restaurants/pubs, live music, one area completely blocked off of bars and pubs and no one under 21 is let in.
Stay away from Shepherdsville. They don't like the military and minorities.

Honestly. It's what you make of it. Don't be a barracks rat. Get out and explore. Lots of Distilleries in and around Louisville. Check them out. Have a designated driver bc some do taste samplings. :)
