It's disappointing that two people who took so much time and effort to try and make a real picture of Guantanamo Bay and the military detention mission there could have gone so far off the reservation. I am beyond disappointed that they couldn't even get the basics right, such as, the US military detention facility there is not a "prison," nor is there "indefinite detention." ICRC physicians I worked with there in 2002 told me, "No one does [detention operations] better than the US." Nearly 800 unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us were ever held there; 740+ have been released, and none of them was executed, beheaded, blown up, hacked to death, dragged naked and lifeless through the streets, drowned or burned alive. All things our enemies have done to us and/or our allies. There is no moral comparison between Gitmo and how our enemies treat their captives. Detainees are treated with dignity and respect. They are given FREE Qurans, prayer rugs/beads, directions to Mecca, halal and special Muslim holy holiday meals, white robes, services of US military Muslim chaplains, correspondence, world class health, dental and vision care, library, books, DVDs, video games, recreation, sports and more. The bias is dripping from what's been dropped so far, certainly no journalistic integrity. Sincerely, MAJ (RET) Montgomery J. Granger, author, "Saving Grace at Guantanamo Bay: A Memoir of a Citizen Warrior." A real Gitmo story.
