I am currently assigned to the TX NG. I IST'd here from TN NG in February. I ETS Aug 17, 2019. I have every intention of attempting to go active when I ETS. I am in a CSSB and am not MOS Q for the slot I'm in and can't go to reclass due to ETS date. I have been advised to do a DD-368. Is TX an easier state to get released from than other states? Thanks in advance!

Start the process since, as you stated, by mid summer your contract expires. Your command team, hypothetically speaking, shouldn’t hold you since it counts towards their Non-Qual numbers; a bad thing for statistics. Worst case scenario.... begin your process in late July!!!!!

You will ETS in 121 days.
If you submit a DD 368 today it would probably take that 60-90 days to get to your G1 anyway, where they will notice your ETS and also say that you can just get out in August.
Approving a 368 to release you a month early isn't worth your effort or theirs.

Just start talking to an active component recruiter now about signing a contract with them on 18 August. Clear your unit supply and CIF by June or July and do your active contract in August.
