Ran across this article a while back. Personally interesting in that my platoon in Bravo, 1/1 field tested this in early 1971. Used the M60 tripod & T&E and looked like an M79 barrel grafted to an M1919 MG receiver. We liked it for the firepower, but higher thought it too heavy. Decades later I got to command a HMG plt with M19's. Deja vu

MSgt George Cater There was one or one that was similar brought out to Lz Ryder in late 1969. It had a 12 round canister and butterfly triggers mounted on a tripod.

MSgt George Cater - I really don't know what model was could have been the same or some variation. There was a lot of different equipment brought to the hill during that time. One was a direct fire laser that read back to the guns, instantly give the range. This was in part 7th Marines and 11th Marines that had a free field of fire.
