Grew up in Western North Carolina, Asheville area. Joined USMC October 1967, served in Vietnam as a 0331 Machine Gunner from 69 to 71, made lateral move from 03 to the 1800 field 1971, served with 3r Tacked Vehicles until December 1973 went to MCRD, San Diego and served as a Drill Instructor until April of 1977, returned to 3rd Tracs and went to Okinawa, returned to Camp Pendelton 1978, and was medically retired under Honorable Conditions in 1980.
