Bio
I am originally from Houston, Texas and was raised in Louisiana. I enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 19 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Growing up, I loved to hunt, fish, and play athletic sports. I always dreamed of playing baseball in the major leagues, but I only made it to semi-pro level as a short-stop, pitcher & manager. Today, I own and operate USMilitaryHats.com with my wife, Shannon. We love it!

    Unit Supply Specialist

Upon first arrival to the unit, I was assigned to the division Property Book Office (PBO) as a clerk. After serving 6 months as a PBO clerk under the direct supervision and direction of a Chief Warrant Officer (CW2) and SGT (E-5), I served as the only enlisted member (Private First Class) of my property book team, an NCO slot. I held the position for 6 months and was re-assigned to the company unit supply room during unit deactivation to run supply operations and the unit arms room as the Unit Armorer. During my time in PBO, I participated in the Warfighter exercise alongside my Property Book Team Chief. For my performance in the division Property Book Office and participation in the Warfighter exercise, I was awarded the First Infantry Division certificate and the Army Achievement Medal.

    First Responder

My unit was dispatched to respond to massive flooding caused by the Great Flood of 1993. I provided transportation and delivery of first aid supplies, MREs, and sandbagging supplies in a 5-ton truck to other first responders in the field (i.e. Ft. Riley, KS, Ogden, KS, Junction City, KS). Provided transportation for safe evacuation of flood victims.

    Diplomatic Driver

I was assigned as the driver for a foreign diplomat Lieutenant Colonel who was a member of the Libyan military. He visited Fort Riley, KS and I escorted him to and from his quarters, and to and from all of his appointments and engagements for a period of 2 weeks.

    Squad Leader (BCT)

This is a position I unknowingly earned, which had been removed from a SPC (E-4). I was assigned the position by a Drill Sergeant as a PVT (E-1) while performing Drill & Ceremony tasks during week 1 in Basic Combat Training. I held the position until graduation. Squad leader duties included carrying out orders issued by command personnel, platoon leader, and Drill Sergeants. I carried out orders issued by Drill Sergeants to lead work details, disciplining and training insubordinate squad members, and worked closely with them in areas of inefficiencies, self-motivation, team dynamics, interpersonal communication, and AR 670-1 (i.e. proper wear of uniforms and insignia).
