Battalion Legal Clerk/Legal Chief
After arriving at the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, (Reinforced) FMF, at Camp Pendleton, CA, fresh out of Basic Cambat Engineer School at Corthouse Bay, Camp LeJeune, N.C., I was assigned to the Construction Shop where I worked for approx. 2 months, at which time I was recruited by the Battalion Adjutant/Legal Officer and transfered to the S-1 Shop where I was immediately placed in On-The-Job Training to become the next Battalion Legal Clerk and subsequent Legal Chief, thus changing my primary MOS from a 1371 to a 4421. I remained in this position until my end of enlistment of active duty in June of 1981. I also served as the Battalion Admin Chief for a period of approximately six months while concurrently serving as the Legal Chief.
