From the Bilges to the Blowers, the Turbine Engines to the Propeller, Steering the ship to the Catapult launching aircraft, hot showers and the hot food, lights and vents, hydraulics and pneumatics, and all that brings the ship alive and operational... Hot, Loud, with a thousand ways to die, each watch must be endured; a separate underworld of holes and voids, pumps and valves, steam and water. There's nothing comparable to working down in the Pit... No way to explain or describe it; "unless you've been there" kind of thing..

We left San Diego, CA and were diverted down off the coast of Central America as a show of force. Demonstrations of firepower were held for the each country's leaders. We then steamed to the Indian Ocean for carrier operations.

Gonzo station is off the coast of Iran and Oman in the Arabian Sea, near The Straits of Hormuz into the Persian Gulf. The 50 American Hostages being held in Iran were released while the Battle Group off the coast of Iran.
