RADCON Supervisor
Ensured radioactive work on this submarine tender was performed safely, personnel were not over exposed to radiation, and radioactive contamination was properly controlled.
• Directed 15-person team performing a manned radioactive liquid tank inspection. Coordinated different groups including nuclear workers, quality control and non-destructive testing departments. This procedure allowed a major submarine overhaul to start on schedule.
• Reduced initial training time for nuclear workers by 67%, enabling workers to support workload and effectively increase size of work pool.
• Directed radiological workers during urgent replacement of a nuclear instrument on a submarine, allowing submarine to meet its underway schedule.

Nuclear Reactor Operator
Operated the nuclear reactor plant on this submarine. Performed maintenance and repair on all nuclear safety systems.
• Determined frequent failures of nuclear control system were due to Electro-Static Discharge. Implemented ESD reduction program that eliminated semiannual repair and calibration which lasted three days. During this time, the submarine could not get underway.
• Rapidly learned and qualified sonar operator to replace an injured crewman and allow the submarine to perform operations vital to the security of the United States.
