I grew up a BRAT (i.e., Born Raised And Transferred), so counting 3 years, 8 months 21 days active duty & 27 months of inactive reserve, I wasn't a civilian until I was 26. Semper Fi...nally.

It's who you don't know you know that matters. Put in for Vietnam and my old battery sgt had moved to up to group as the orders clerk and saw me going to Nam so sent me to Hawaii instead. Got the sun and the monsoons but no incoming.
