One thing that all of these mass shootings have in common is that they target people who can't put up a fight. Basic military idea of force protection is hardening the target. Why not apply this concept to the general population?

SGT David T., Didn't you see all those recycles in basic and AIT, and all those rejects that didn't make it out of AIT? I rest my case.

SGT (Join to see) Reycles? The really scary ones were later identified in the units.

In particular, one when I was a 1SG and another in a Bn. Both were carefully supervised when around vehicles or live rounds!

CSM Charles Hayden, I never knew if they ever made it or not. We had one in basic that was cross eyed and whenever we were moving, if we came to a creek, he fell in. We used to make bets that he would. Another idiot freaked out in grenade training and threw the grenade, but it didn't make it over the bunker. The DI picked it up and tossed it. We hit the deck. He was never to be seen again.

That is another shooting incident waiting to happen.  The likelihood of people trying to embrace their inner "John Wayne" would be too great and do more harm than good, IMHO

SSG Michael Hartsfield, I agree with that also. Coming up with the open carry law, IMHO, is asking for big trouble.
