LTC Thomas Tennant Thank you for posting this. I'd like to try to stay away from the politics of the matter and address what is trying to be avoided. The House and Senate have "attempted to reform the FIOA law seven times in the last ten years to amend the transparency of the law" each time they have been met by resistance from the current Administration. This strikes me as odd because if passed it make POTUS' own memorandum, "that instructed all government agencies to "adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure, in order to renew their commitment to the principles embodied in FOIA, and to usher in a new era of open Government." law.

It is quite ironic isn't? But it seems as they became more entrenched as an administration the more embolden they have become in their lawlessness. In terms of scandals, this is the administration that keeps on giving. Had this been a white conservative Republican, just one of the scandals would have brought the press screaming for impeachment and possible incarceration of the principles.
Taking bets on Hillary's indictment....odds are 3K to 1 she won't be.

Obviously the Obama administration didn't oppose every attempt for 10 years since they haven't been in power for 10 years. Beyond that, the talking points made sense. The bill directed every government office to review every document they have on file and determine if releasing it would increase public knowledge on how their office works. How stupid is that? Talk about thousands of hours of make work. Plus it directs the administration to do specific administrative things that are outside the purview of the legislative branch to tell the executive branch how to handle its business.

But mainly, what happened to the bill? Did Obama veto it? No. No bill was ever passed by the house and senate (both republican majority) and sent to the President for signature. In fact, John Boehner tabled the later version of this bill and didn't give it a house vote at all.
