The author has taken a superficial glance at Christianity and very shallow thought to come up with a patently offensive headline and weak premise for an article. The Bible is not a comic book. If you do not think deeply about it you cannot expect to achieve deep results. I will argue one point to make my point.

Supposedly "unbiblical belief" -- God helps those who help themselves. Luke Chapter 4 deals with Satan's temptation of Jesus. Satan puts Jesus through a series of scenarios that boil down to "If you do A, I will do B". or "It's OK to do C because if God truly loves you, He will protect you from the consequences of your decisions". Jesus told Satan to pack sand. In one particular case, Jesus tells him "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God".

A modern day interpretation is that it is reasonable to say that there are consequences to one's actions and inactions. Thus if I want relief from a bad situation, or an improvement of my situation I have to do something myself. Sitting on your butt is a decision with predictable consequences. God' assistance may be present in any form: the will to continue, prior preparation, an unforeseen opportunity, wisdom, etc.

This was not even a deep philosophical effort. The Bible does not tell us the insert Tab "a" into slot "b" approach to success and happiness. No more than the Constitution covers all cases. It teaches us how to view our place in the world, so that we can navigate our way through what comes up.

5. GOD WON’T GIVE YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE Here the author is wrong again, 1 Corinthians 10:13 -"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it". Now some may interpret temptation any way they want, but to me, temptation is any endeavor that makes me question or have to decide "what to do" in that/any instance.

This is a very relevant article even more so in today’s politically correct world.
