From the medical perspective...maybe, Heat Stroke is close to dying so thay is one posibility. Grenade ranges have poor outcomes sometimes. I remember one range we went to where the throw was so short green grass landed on the pits either side. Again a possibility. Live fire ranges? Maybe, but unlikely unless something went bad wrong.

PO1 Aaron Baltosser - One does not simply state they almost died in BCT or boot. I couldn't take anyone seriously that told me that. Because if you had "almost died" I'm thinking well you have to be a special type of service member.

WO1 (Join to see) - FMF Corpsman type so yes I am a special type of service member, though not in the disparaging way you meant. I have seen men in training go down with 107 body core temp before. I was able to rescue them both with a team of good friends saving their lives, with no brain damage. That kind of temp can kill you easily. The condition is seen during the summer at boot camp regularly.
While the guy was being a little drama queen mentioning that little nugget, it is entirely possible he was being honest.
