The Russian's are just showing off the fact that they still have a few planes left that they havent sold to 3rd world country garage sales and the fact they still have a few pilots left that can do more then sit in the cockpit and do more then just say "pew" "pew" "pew"

This is old news. Apparently this episode happened a couple days ago, but the exactly the same thing happened a month or so ago -- identical down to the verbiage used to describe the incident by an Air Force spokesperson, "...in an unsafe and unprofessional manner."

Why does this surprise anyone? They're Russians, that's what they do. They happen to be very good pilots, this is just their way of showing off. I'm guessing they get a kick of reading the responses in the news, and consider us to be whiners and pussies. And they're right. If we want to demonstrate to them we've got steely nerves, we need to (A) stop whining about it when they do things like that, (B) fly straight and true when they're trying to get us to blink, and maybe (C) critique their barrel rolls when they do one over an RC-135.

We make a habit of going places just because we can, to maintain our right to be there. If we can do it, they can too. If we don't like it when they respond to our presence with their presence, and their presence is more annoying, then we should do like CPL Jay Strickland says and escort the RC-135s with F-22s.
