Just 20 or so years ago, the A-10 Air Base closed. Part of the Ramstein AB Complex, we used to play them in football that included RAF bases, Eiffels (Bitburg, Spangdahlem, Hahn) and Italy ), Aviano and Spain (Terrajon). Most of these bases are shuttered, while Landstuhl Hospital is still doing well.
Beat Sembach 74-7, 50-6, and the league resembled the MASH football games. My brother and I went to Sembach, noting the old style German structures, while A-10s haunted a good part of Europe.
It was a different time is US/Europe Bases and caught in time. A time long gone but not forgotten by older Veterans. The Vietnam-era was a more or less 'ghost war'' butt terrorism by the Bader Meinhof Gang and others. German bases helped the front line, Cold War times and we trained for Armaggedon.

Great video which brings back memories. My last tour in USAFE ended in 1986 during which I worked on the cruise missile program among others. I passed through again in '88 for the INF Treaty with the former USSR. Those were great times although not as safe as I would have liked (Red Brigade and all that...). Thanks for the posting of the video.

SSgt (Join to see) - I agree - I miss many of the days in Germany. I was at Ramstein from '82 to '86 at the HQ USAFE Civil Engineering unit. You?
