I currently live in southern France and I used to live in Monaco. When I first came to France I was in shock in shopping and checking out. In Grocery stores the cashier is sitting not standing like the United States. There is no one who bags the items into the bag. The buyer is the one bagging their items to a bag. The bag is also charge to the customer. Eating in France is also interesting. The wait staff does not continually ask check on the client. The client must get the wait staff attention if they want to reorder their food. In all fast food I visit there is no free refills offer unlike the United States. When I was struck in an elevator it took about 1 hour for the person to get in. Trying to get new cell phone contacts in France was even more hard. In some shops in France they are closed during 12-14 for lunch breaks. French train strikes are the worse I was lucky to not take the train when I lived in Monaco because I would just walk. Now I take the train and it's bad during strike days. The train will strike at least 5 times a month.

Sounds like my childhood in a nutshell.. I was born and raised in Paris, and you have to add people's unfriendliness to the equation.
