If you’ve ever served in the U.S. military, chances are you’ve been here before: It’s the first or second week of boot camp, or basic training, or whatever the Air Force calls the place where it trains new recruits (camp?), and the drill sergeants are pulling out all the stops to ensure you reach your maximum potential for human suffering. From sun up to sun down — or, as is usually the case, from sun up to sun up — life is a never-ending cycle of getting smoked, cleaning stuff that isn’t actually dirty, and trying to remember what real food tastes like.

But isn't it a great feeling after all these years to be able to say that you took all that hard training and chicken sh ... and actually survived where others did not kind of gave me a confidence that surely helped later on in life,you know marriage and getting orders from She who must be obeyed!

Not gonna lie, I would like to say that the Army has an exceptional Basic Training program, but that would be dishonest. And a Soldier shall not cheat, nor lie, nor steal. When I went through in July 2014, it was pathetic. The entire physical aspect of training was sad. Training to be apart of the world's greatest fighting force, was probably easier than a two hour wrestling practice in my hometown of Lisbon, Iowa. That being said, if you can handle the mental grind you should fine. Athletics helps with that. Funny letter though

SGT (Join to see) - my stepdad is with a CAV unit, he's a Kiowa pilot. Wears his Stetson all the time. That's the only reason I know what it is.

LCpl Tad Cunningham, That's awesome. They were introduced in Vietnam in 1969, to, I think, replace the H-13 scout aircraft. The ones with the chin bubble. I was gone by then. Tell him I said thank you for his service.

Physically, Navy boot was a joke for any half-assed HS athlete. The only thing that sucked was the summer heat in Orlando.
