The Kurds have been someone we supported and crapped on for 3-4 decades that I have watched that area. BUT, there is a communist arm of the Kurds... And they have been doing well in Syria as fighters, but I am not sure if we are supporting them or not.... They may win support from the confused... We do need score cards!

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - Private; I doubt that the Kurds are one bit surprised to find that the US is alternately supporting and crapping on them. "Why should the US be any different than any other government throughout history?" is the question that the Kurds ask instinctively.

Al-Qa'eda was very appreciative of America's support for the Kurds when Saddam Hussein was in power because without the "air umbrella" that America's "No Fly Zones" provided al-Qa'eda wouldn't have been able to either build or keep open any of its bases and training camps in Iraq.
