The New York City blackout of 1977 was an electricity blackout that affected most of New York City on July 13–14, 1977. Most people do not understand how truly fragile our society is. Technology is a blessing and a curse. A "Carrington Event" or EMP strike would literally destroy our country within a matter of weeks. The local, state and federal government literally would not be able to do much of anything especially maintaining law and order. What are the masses of people going to do when food shipments stop or the water stop flowing from the taps because we have not protected our infrastructure from this threat? Chaos will ensue in a matter of days. We may possibly not ever be able to come back from either one of these events as unaffected enemy nations would be foolish to "Not Let A Crisis Go To Waste".
