My girlfriend and business partner just called me in a panic...she was gasping for her breath....half crying and in a state of terror and panic.
Someone called her stating he was with the IRS and that under statute and code XXXXXXX they were issuing a warrant for her arrest. She asked why and he said because she owed the IRS $2500 and they've attempted to contact her on numerous occassions and she had not replied.
She told him she was not aware of being contacted by the IRS...there were no numbers on her caller id, no voice mails and she had not received a letter in the mail.
This man began threatening her...and told her if she didn't pay immediately, an officer would be there at her door in 10 minutes to arrest her, and once arrested it would be too late and she would spend 10 years in jail. My friend panicked. she was scared to death...this guy also told her if she hung up or disconnected their call in any way that she would be arrested immediately. ...they the IRS would put a lean against her property and take her house away.... He made her stay on the phone while she got in her car and drove to the bank...but the bank was already closed...so he told her to drive to walmart and get an itunes card and load it with $2500. she did. He gave her a number for her to call him back at to give him the code for the itune card. She called him back and gave him the number. Then she called me. OH MY GOD!...I wanted to shout at her...call her stupid.....ask her what the hell was wrong with her....but I didn't...I just consoled her and then pointed out many things...I told her first the IRS would send you a letter which would explain why you owe money...and it would say for you to contact the IRS. When you call the IRS they would either make payments if you could not pay what you owed...but you would have time to look into it and disupte the IRS claim and you could go to court to dispute it. Second! The IRS would NEVER EVER ask to be paid by any pre paid card, itunes card and any kind of card. Third! the only way they IRS would ever arrest you is if you ignore them, don't show up to court and a warrant is issued....and I went on and on...
OH MY GOSH!! I feel so bad for her...she is such a nice lady...very lovely person and I can't believe this happened to her....This guy had her so scared...Here is the phone number this guy had her call her back on...I've already looked it up and I've reported it...My friend is reporting it to the FBI and to the IRS and the Treasury Department.
Don't let this happen to anyone you know...tell them this story..share it with them and have them share it with others. Apparently this is the biggest scam going right now and over a couple of million dollars have been scammed so far.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL you are most welcome...I just wish it was under better circumstances. i pray she is able to get her money back..$2500 is more than half of what she had in her savings account.

Sgt Kelli Mays, I have received several of those calls. Their voices always are deep and sound serious. I laugh after they get through with their script and tell,to go FO. I've called the number back too, but it's always disconnected, or goes dead. I thought everyone knew about these scumbags. I'm sorry your friend got so worked up. In the first place the IRS never calls. They send you a notice of their intent. Tell your bud that.

SGT (Join to see) yup, but she didn't know and he had her so scared and in such a state of panic she did everything he told her to do....now she's out $2500. I feel so bad for her....she's kicking herself in the butt now...

Sgt Kelli Mays - No! OMG, I'm so sorry she got robbed by one of those scumbags. That's why they keep doing it. They know they are going to scare the crap out of someone. That's terrible. Out $2500. Thing is, she will probably get another call. Now she knows what to say. One of our friends got a call, and they told the guy, " you know it's illegal to do this, and I'm with the FBI, so we'll be seeing you soon. She said the guy couldn't hang up fast enough.
