Crazy thing is half of the people complaining are the people that run in buildings when it's time to salute the flag.... A lot of pots calling the kettle black

I don't think Kaepernick disrespected the country in his actions. I think all he did was make an idiot out of himself and show how stupid he really is. .

Frank Shirley you are wrong. If someone who was actually working to make the world a better place had done the same thing, nothing would be said. A millionaire complaining about injustice without taking any tangible steps to back up the statement screams of insincerity. If you want proof, here are 10 BLACK celebrities who put their money behind their words.

TSgt Frank Shirley First off, please do not use caps the way you have all over this post, it looks bad. Secondly, let's look at the bigger picture. What does he accomplish by not standing for the National Anthem? He got a lot of media attention, but it really puts himself and the 49ers in a negative light.

His quote, "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." So my question to you, how is this country oppressing black people? Give me specifics on how the country is doing it, and then show me where the government can make change.

TSgt Frank Shirley So do I get an answer on how the country is oppressing black people and people of color? After we can take a look at murders being put on paid vacation.

TSgt Frank Shirley Yeah, that was the second piece and now it seems to be what he is protesting the most anyway.

My response is the same as it was when black people were posting videos of stomping on the flag: great, you've got our attention, but what are you really doing to make race relations better in this country?

I see actions like that as doing more harm than good. If improved race relations is what you really want, then that should be your focus, rather than losing your message within the context of such a provocative action.

TSgt Frank Shirley - Just so you are aware, black people were not the only ones who have been repressed throughout history. More people have been maimed, killed, repressed, or otherwise disenfranchised in the name of RELIGION than for any other reason. So I will ask you why shouldn't black people do anything to make race relations better?
