Update...Apparently what the Seahawks really plan on doing is Standing up and interlocking arms and be UNITED as one to respect the FLAG, their COUNTRY and the Military...this article and my local news got it wrong due, I'm guessing because of speculations and rumors

My grandson and I loaded up and got into my car earlier today to go to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. The radio came on and the Star Spangled Banner was playing...not sure who was singing it, but she was really good....after it was over, I changed the channel and low and behold the next station was playing the star spangled banner. I got chills and goose bumps and listened to this version which was instrumental only.....then my mind wandered to the news cast last night where the entire team of the Seattle SeaHawks plan on sitting down during the National Anthem....and it just disgusts me.
It was all started by Colin Kaepernick....who said he did it because he feel BLACK PEOPLE are being OPPRESSED....that COPS seek out and hunt down black folks more than any other race...yet, after his game the other night he said he respects the military and the police and blah blah blah...yet, he still sits out.
Please, someone tell me...How does disrespecting your flag and country help his cause? If he wants to make a stand/stance about his belief that Blacks are oppressed, he should just say so...shout it out loud at the top of his lungs...and JOIN GROUPS and ORGANIZATIONS and be their SPOKESMAN or Spokes Person...and GIVE UP SOME OF HIS 32 MILLION dollars and put it towards HELPING clean up black neighborhoods and START UP A SCHOLARSHIP or FUND for black kids...and SET UP ORGANIZATIONS to help keep them in School and tutor them. Donating $300000 out of millions he makes is nothing...with his actions, it's starting a chain reaction and an uproar.... UGH!!!

That's what I've been saying this whole time and half my friends have disowned me. Oh well I'm a big girl and I'm entitled to my opinion. I think he's doing it for publicity. If he was really interested in change he would "DO" something and not just a bunch of talk. We are all in this together and quite frankly we need to get our shit together.

I am as tired of the "link our arms in unity to support the flag" as I am of the "sit down during to protest the flag" Can I just have my entertainment without anybody's and I mean ANYBODY's political side dish? All these knuckleheads assume that they are so important that I care what their opinion is. I think I'll start taping pop warner and pewee games so I don't have to deal with this nonsense.

Kelli, I have been saying the same damn words. Yes, I appreciate Freedom of Speech! But he should become part of the solution not the problem. His disrespectful behavior is getting plenty of media coverage. He should be a role model and take a few dollars, donate or built a community center, sports center, damn donate 1000 basketball hoops or something worthwhile in sports that will keep the kids occupied, teach them about team work etc. instead of roaming the streets.

TSgt Frank Shirley - Being heard nationally but taking no action achieves nothing. Don't you think it would be better if he saved just one kid from going down the wrong path than heard by millions, saving none? Maybe put those 1000 basketball hoops up in downtown and teach kids to join teams other than gangs.
