I grew up in this area - and actually met my wife at Fort Drum. With not much to do, drinking and baby making is really all there is left. Also, I suppose that there aren't too many posts/bases in NY anyway and compared to civilians, we can really throw it back. Though, now that I am thinking about it, it's really hard to believe when I think of Rochester and Albany with the college there. Maybe we still out drink them. Clearly there isn't a Navy base anywhere in the vicinity. Numbers would be much higher! ;)

Hahah just checked out your profile and I'm right down Route 11...from Potsdam! Nice to see someone else from the North Country here.

Spend a night on courtesy patrol and you'll find validity in this article... Not necessarily just soldiers at Drum, but much of the civilian population from what I have observed.
