Don't look down your nose at our brothers and sisters to the North. While in Afghanistan the Canadians, Brits, Aussies, and U.S. Marines had the hardest AO to work. They did so impeccability.

Um...LOTS of Liberals in Canada served in the military. Up here, "Liberal" is a political party, not just a place on a attitudinal spectrum.

As (Anonymous) explains, Liberal is a political party n Canada. While their viewpoint may also be characterized as such, in the U.S.A. the characterization of liberal vs. conservative has become a virtual dividing line. The article seems to explain the expectations of what Canadian Armed Forces are supposed to be doing, but the reality is that they are required to engage in combat to complete their mission properly. This is somewhat analogous to our debate with U.S. Armed Forces and the participation of female Warriors in combat. Anybody who has served in the Iraqi or Afghanistan Areas of Operation is familiar with an asymmetric battlefield where everyone is exposed to combat.

Thanks for the explanation so you have been offended by the word liberal when liberals are basically Democrats in Canada and the Tories are the conservatives too much the same in England and the NDP National Democratic Party is actually Bernie Sanders like socialist Party.

MAJ Stephen Conway I think we have seen the negative impact on political discourse here in the U.S.A., especially when each of the respective major political parties, Democrats and Republicans, turn on their own. What we need is a way to address issues, such as allowing units training foreign armies to engage, or not, in combat, and not mere characterizations that polarize and discourage meaningful discussion. So yes, it is offensive if this is a mere tactic, while we need a means to an end. As we have seen, the voters have spoken.
