The Federal Reserve System is the central bank of the United States. It was founded by Congress in 1913 to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system. Over the years, its role in banking and the economy has expanded.

How's that working out for us?

Maj Marty Hogan - Don't recall reading that one, but I have studied and researched the Fed. they dumped it a couple times, then the bankers got their ducks in a row and reinstated it in a manner that has lasted.

LTC (Join to see) - Why do we need a Central Bank, if they can not stabilize the dollar? $4T on their balance sheet and that's stabilizing the dollar? Wait until they have to eliminate that $4T, you may feel differently.

As I noted ... all things are relative. The Fed's 4T pales in comparison with our government's 20T. Imagine if Congress or the POTUS could print money! Having said that, I am not a big proponent of the Fed, just less of a proponent of the federal government. BTW, Sqwerty says "hello" and "Merry Christmas".
