Saying that a man should never, under any circumstance, hit a woman, implies that is it is impossible for a woman to harm a man.

It's too bad the sound was off. I've got mixed feelings about this. I have boys and I taught them not to hit women, but at the same time don't let anyone put their hands on them. It was a brutal slap for sure, yea he should have walked away, but she shouldn't have put her hands on him. It's like my husband says, if you're going to act like a man, you're going to get treated like one.

She put her hands on him, but what she did was in no way proportional to what he did in retaliation.

He started it. I've taught my boys NEVER to hit a girl...Ever~! This guy is twice her size and probably had five times her strength. It would have been easy for his to just put out his arms to hold her back....or hold her by the arms or shoulders....then walked away....under NO circumstances should a Man ever hit a girl....and your husband saying if you are going to act like a man, then you should be treated like one....I do not condone or believe this for one second.

I agree with all the people who say that the level at which he responded was inappropirate, however...

"It would have been easy for his to just put out his arms to hold her back....or hold her by the arms or shoulders....then walked away...."

So, she should be able to completely lose her cool and act like a child throwing a temper tantrum and the fact that he can hold her at arms length while she has her little fit means that that's how he must respond?

"...under NO circumstances should a Man ever hit a girl...."

And if, in the above scenario where he is holding her at arms length she manages to slip past a get a couple good whacks in he should just stand there and take it? Or run away leaving her with a false sense of victory and showing him who's boss?

"...and your husband saying if you are going to act like a man, then you should be treated like one....I do not condone or believe this for one second."

This is a problem, and in my opinion perpetuates gender stereotypes and sexism. For there to EVER be a situation where I am supposed to treat someone differently than someone else becasue of what is between their legs is blatantly sexist and in my opinion wrong. People who want to take a situation into the physical realm should understand that they do not have a say in how far into that realm their opponent will go. Period.

Obviously, a grown man wouldn't theoretically fight a child who was hitting him, but that would be due to immaturity of the child and the self control of the adult. Are you suggesting that women should be treated as children...Unable to control their own impulses and needing to be protected only by the self control of the people they attack?

SFC George Smith A person fits into one of these categories...

a) will not strike a person in anger, regardless of sex/gender
b) will strike a person in anger, regardless of sex/gender
c) is sexist*

*this is absolutely not the only thing that could make someone sexist, but falling outside of category a) or b) does mean a is person sexist
