LTC Stephen C. I just moved from there and that is one of the reasons (Politics, taxes, cost of living, tree huggers) - I'm tired of California like you wouldn't believe. Not because CPT Jack Durish lives there (great friend), but because my wife's mother was killed there by an illegal alien in 2005 and then he was able to cross back over the border again, after being deported, now living back in California illegally - immigration law and tree lovers are more than welcome to be a separate nation (cut off all their Federal Funding). That is my extreme two cents

I'd like to get some other opinions Stephen: What are your thoughts on this Shared Link:

P.S., Before anyone lets me have it...I grew up in CA so I can say pretty much what I care to. But at the same time I need to be sensitive to those who also grew up here in CA. I am not saying that I hate the State, I am saying that I dislike those who RUN the State! It's a very awesome and pretty State but I can move on to just as prettier ones too. I can still do my acting else where. Trust me.

SFC Scott Parkhurst - I lived in Colorado also.. I didn't have any say.. bmnot when one is 6 yrs old.. we lived in Littleton.
Dad worked Security for Martin -Marietta before Lockheed got them. We only stayed a few years. Mom didn't' like it, so back to Michigan we came. The teacher I had in Littleton in 1st grade, I had in 4th grade later.. She was one of my faves.. we had
A meeting every month and discussed what we'd be doing.. we voted to go to see the tigers play opening day in Detroit and even a lot of girls voted for it.. 3 other classes voted too.. some parents thought no.. we told them opening day would be a Saturday so we wouldn't miss school. Our Superintendent got us on 3D base line .
It was awesome !

1SG Lance Amatulli: I just had a friend move to AZ. So I hear you and I understand. That is the only draw back of people moving out of other States into others. Raising cost's of everything! I actually gave that a lot of thought and don't like to be that "outsider" who comes into the neighborhood and cast's a dark shadow....But man, I sure am unhappy living here in CA. But I'm also a person who makes the best of things and tries to balance things out too. My acting career I'm working even harder on just so I can focus on that and not on the negatives of being "here". If that made any sense....

US Supreme court has ruled that states cannot secede from the union:
Texas v. White

the court further held that the Constitution did not permit states to unilaterally secede from the United States, and that the ordinances of secession, and all the acts of the legislatures within seceding states intended to give effect to such ordinances, were "absolutely null"

Chase, [Chief Justice], ruled in favor of Texas on the ground that the Confederate state government in Texas had no legal existence on the basis that the secession of Texas from the United States was illegal. The critical finding underpinning the ruling that Texas could not secede from the United States was that, following its admission to the United States in 1845, Texas had become part of "an indestructible Union, composed of indestructible states." In practical terms, this meant that Texas has never seceded from the United States

Good Luck with that! Short of a new Civil War and/or a new amendment to the US Constitution, -- California cannot leave the United States of America.

I presume this is what happens when you stop teaching history and civics in school. Posture as they may, they cannot leave the Union, unless of course the Big One sends them out to sea.
