The Korean War (Forgotten War) was a disaster and I still don't trust China or Russia not to intervene. I'm not "totally" convinced the US can go in alone. Besides we're still stuck fighting jihadists in the Middle East. Perhaps we can send in Dennis Rodman to gather more intel, since he's good friends with Kim. Let's also give Dennis the Expert Action Badge and make him a Colonel too.

Something tells me the people of North Korea would welcome PyongYang turning into dust.

Gonna have to send someone cuz while I don't believe Trump gave Merkel a "bill" for NATO debt, I **DO** believe that she told him that the present level of European involvement in American-ran wars was going to stay where it is. In other words, "ya on ya own, buddy."

And Britain's BREXIT woes/windfall (depending on who looks at it and how) is going to preclude any anglo involvement.

The 2% assessment is an agreement to be a member of NATO, it isn't supposed to be discretionary. Buying an insurance policy when you're about to bin a wreck or sick would be nice, but unsustainable. How would NATO survive if we felt the same way?

The only problem with using nukes is that you have to be sure who's on your side. Does Russia want to f**k with us? Yes? Then they'll be on the TV within the hour saying "poor Korea," etc. Same with China. If China and Russia are not 100% firmly behind us, then we are basically attacking one of their allies, which then opens up an entirely bigger can of worms.

Best course of action would be for Trump to get China and Russia involved and each nation launch a nuke. That way, each NK "partner" is fully involved and can't reneg. Last thing we want is Soviet subs sinking our ships because we "declared war on their ally." Last thing we want is Chinese planes shooting down our planes because we "declared war on their ally."

And then, to be realistic, once we nuke NK, do we know for sure they'll be impressed and cry uncle? What if they say "f**k you all" and start throwing trons into the air? We then have to be prepared to go to full war.

That is true. Acts of war tend to start war. I do not think that a nuke first strike is required. The AF's high priced bombers can accomplish the job of pulverizing the launch site plus ancillary support sites. Big bombs of conventional explosives can accomplish the job, or so I hope. If it requires a nuke, just do it as you advocate, as a multi great power first strike. Done properly, the North Koreans would lose the means to fight. I suppose they could send out lone actors to smuggle in small nukes to harbors but we will see. I hope that all this can be prevented through the Chinese applying pressure on their client.

Great topic. Anyone notice that the ABC News Anchor is in Korea this week. Has anyone heard of the other anchors going there? That could be an indicator that they want to be there when we attack nKorea. (Funny, most of the smart people on RP, would not want to be there.)

I remember hearing that a news anchor was going to South Korea this week but I thought it was the CBS anchor. I could be wrong.
