Would Kim Jong-un nuke his own capitol to spark a nuclear holocaust around the world? Everyone seems to be reporting the evacuation of Pyongyang except the American main stream media, so I'm sure there will be those who question this report from Prada. (You'll also find it on the BBC and other news outlets around the world. Just Google "Pyongyang evacuation") However, what I find interesting is my reaction to the story. If true, is Kim so insane as to believe that he could trigger nuclear armed nations into retaliating against each other thinking that the US nuked his capitol? To be fair, I don't believe that other world leaders are as irrational as Kim and would hesitate until they checked out the facts. Korea has little capability of delivering a nuke beyond their own borders and we have the technology to detect missile launches and track them from point of origin to point of impact. Also, the "signature" of a nuclear detonation should clearly establish it's origin. Still, we are dealing with an irrational dictator who would likely consider that his people are better able to cope with the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust than most. After all, they are already living in squalor.

Well, I don't know if this is true or not. Observe, Captain: 'one modified Ohio type rocket carrier'. Dunno wtf this author is smoking, but he's talking about a Submarine. So right off the bat I'm suspicious.

Strategically, sacrificing Pyongyang gives the DPRK a lot more real estate to fall back into. I say this because if they are evacuating the capital, they have obviously established a back-up site where the government will rule from. If the location of this back-up site is not known to anyone else, decapitation of the leadership becomes difficult or impossible. So the back-up capital could be anywhere, and the DPRK military has the entirety of the country to maneuver within without worrying about defending a capital less than 60km from the "enemy" capital.
So this is a strategic bonus for them. I don't think they would nuke Pyongyang when evacuating it gives them the same result. As for nuking it and blaming someone else, that would be a tough sell considering all the surveillance technology watching North Korea on a daily basis. While smuggling a nuke into the country covertly is possible, why would any nuclear power resort to that over a cruise missile or conventional ICBM? It wouldn't make sense. Also, nuking themselves makes that area a nuclear hot zone for the foreseeable future, and requiring NBC protective equipment and operations (including decon) for both sides of the DMZ.
