Personally, I've found that in most situations such as you describe, SFC George Smith, responding "Yes dear" is pretty much the only way to gain sound suppression.

You don't need a suppressor if you lived in a mechanized Infantry unit. Tanks, M-2's and M-60's will take care of that. Seriously, in this case this study could help. Suppressors are big business and we have a business guy in the White House than sorta likes the NRA.
