Thanks for sharing the Jungle Boots search video SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Jungle boots needed to have armored soles to protect from punji stakes and other ground foot hazards. They also needed canvas sides or similar material which would allow for quick drying an "breathing" of the feet to reduce immersion feet and other foot problems developing in the triple canopy forests, jungle streams, bogs, rice paddies, etc.
Those MACV and other SOG operators who operated in the early days frequently used gaiters to protect the legs from tics and other bugs, leaches, etc.

The jungle boots i had in Viet Nam I threw out before I came home, they were too beat up to bother bringing home.

Only these are not the original jungle boots. These have a new cleat design. I had a lucky pair that had about 32 months on them when I got them. No finish left on them, raw leather but super broken in!
